Kingston Lacy

QS INSP 001:

Kingston Lacy, near Wimborne, is a striking 17th‑century country house set within formal gardens and an expansive deer park. Renowned for its classical Italianate façade and richly furnished interiors, the house displays an outstanding collection of paintings, tapestries and classical antiquities assembled by the Bankes family over four centuries. Visitors can explore ornate reception rooms, a library lined with rare volumes and intimate domestic spaces that reveal Tudor and Georgian layers beneath the 19th‑century remodelling. Outside, avenues of lime trees, a walled garden, and sweeping lawns lead to tranquil woodland and lakeside walks. Kingston Lacy marries art, architecture and landscape, offering a quietly grand experience of English country house life.
